The Seven Chakras in our Body.

Each of us "lives" in our Chakras according to our needs and desires in life.
A person inclined towards the pleasures of life would live mainly in his three lower chakras; a person who is very compassionate towards others would live most of the time in his Heart chakra; an enlightened person would live mostly in his higher chakras.

1. Mooladhar chakra: This is controlled by the planet Mars. It gives a person awareness of the body. It also gives the six inclinations (called "shad-ripu" in Sanskrit) which are necessary for life's basic needs. This focus is meant to be used sparingly and within limit. Living in this chakra excessively can make a person overwhelmingly selfish and arrogant.

2. Swadhishthan chakra: This is controlled by the planet Venus and concerns sensual pleasures and gratification.

3. Manipur Chakra: This is controlled by the Sun. It controls Ego, desire for fame and recognition.

4. Anahat chakra: This is also called the Heart Chakra. It is controlled by the planet Mercury. It controls compassion, sympathy and empathy towards others. It governs emotions and sentiments

5. Vishuddha chakra: This is controlled by the planet Jupiter. It governs knowledge and wisdom.
6. Agnya chakra: This is governed by the planet Saturn. It gives knowledge of the siddhis.
7. Sahastrahar chakra: Is governed by the shadow planet Ketu, and it gives self-enlightenment.

                                      Herbal baths of Vedic Astrology

A description of herbal baths with specific churnas (powdered herbs) is found in ancient Vedic Astrology. This traditional Hindu wisdom has come down to us through ancient lineages of Vedic astrologers of India.

When I analysed the concept of herbal baths by reading the available literature and looked at it from the point of view of modern medicine, I realised that this ancient practice is worthy of being revived, as it has the potential to help us overcome stress and anxiety. Herbal baths are advised to offset and counter unfavourable planetary forces and it is possible to calculate from a Vedic horoscope, when exactly they would be necessary or would work, in a person's life.

Aushadhi snaan (herbal baths) might have the potential to affect our Chakras and make them less responsive to and therefore, less vulnerable to, the effects of planets.

The Bhrajak pitta of our skin controls absorption of various substances, including absorption of various energies, through our skin.
Planetary forces are thought to act on us through different Energies but most definitely, they act through Light Energy. It is interesting to note that each planet influences one particular Colour of light in the spectrum.
By their action on the bhrajak pitta of the skin, some special herbs can block or modify the absorption of these planetary energies and protect us from the malefic effects of their corresponding planets.

Our Seven chakras are the gateways through which Forces from outside our bodies enter, act on and influence our Autonomous Nervous System, which governs our life.

Herbal baths can be used to reduce anxiety and stress caused by adverse planetary forces and to improve our health and general well-being. The system of dasha and bhuktis, which is used to calculate adverse planetary periods, is unique to Vedic astrology.

Aushadhi snaan consists of adding powdered herbs to one's bath water. It is safe and without side-effects. Improvement can be very real, though gradual.

FASTING for good health and well-being.

What happens when we fast? How does fasting help us? This article is based on my interpretation of the Indian Shastras.

You know that Sunlight is made up of seven visible colours of the spectrum.
Each colour corresponds to one of the seven planets.
When we eat food, our jatharagni is stimulated and we begin to digest our food. Jatharagni is a concept in Ayurveda; it refers to the the energy required to 'burn and digest' our food........ it is the energy that releases the digestive enzymes.
Good jatharagni is said to be powerful only during the daytime and is weak at night. (Hence, Ayurveda also says we should avoid eating at night.
Night is called Raakshas kaal, when the agni of Raakshas ganas is said to be strong). On each day of the week, our jatharagni is stronger in the colour of light which governs that particular day.
Food eaten on that day would be digested by agni stronger in rays of that particular colour and ras-dhatu (which can be loosely equated with lymph) formed from it would carry characteristics of the planet which governs that particular colour.
Ras-dhatu is the first of seven dhatus that build our body. The other dhatus are formed sequentially, from the ras dhatu.

When we fast, less food is consumed, less ras-dhatu is formed on that day and so the dhatus would store less planetary energy belonging to that particular planet.
Regular fasting on that day of the week would significantly reduce malefic effects from that planet.

It is possible to find out which planet is responsible for ill-luck and adversity for a person, from the birth horoscope. Fasting on the day ruled by this planet will significantly reduce the effects of this planet in a person's life.

Astrology & our Genetic Code

The Horoscope
The birth chart or Horoscope of a person is cast from the exact planetary positions at the moment of his birth. The positions of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the two nodes, Rahu and Ketu, their declinations and other details constitute what is called a Horoscope.

A Horoscope shows the general physical characteristics of a person, his mental make-up, his health , the diseases which he may be inclined to get, his status and progress or regress in life , some information about his family members and many other things.

Also, the horoscope, through what are called Dashas and Mahadashas, can show not only What but also When certain things are likely to happen in a person’s life.

Mainly, a horoscope shows tendencies.

Hence, a horoscope will show whether a person will tend to be short or tall, thin or fat, fair or dark, whether he is likely to have any physical handicap, and other such things. A horoscope shows such type of generalisations quite correctly.

To a trained Vedic Astrologer, the horoscope is the sitemap of a person’s life and destiny.

Destiny
Although the horoscope shows the destiny of a person, the horoscope itself is the result of a past destiny , formed by the past births of that person. Here, the Theory of Karma operates.

Every action of every living being on Earth is a type of karma. Each karma faithfully leaves a celestial imprint. This is recorded by what we can call the ‘Celestial Computer’. All the voluntary and involuntary actions of a person are thus fed into this Celestial Computer where his karmic record is maintained.

The Nine Planets and the twenty-seven Nakshatras form the ‘BIOS’ or the Operating System of this Celestial Computer. The karmic Input is faithfully recorded throughout one’s life. Simultaneously, the programme of Destiny in the next life is generated as an Output from the Celestial Computer. This programme, which is in a Planetary language is encrypted in the Horoscope!

The Moment of Birth
All the Planets have a fixed, predetermined planetary course in the Sky. Hence, at what time which Planet will be in which exact position in which Rasi is already predetermined centuries before the Planet comes to that position.

Planets in particular positions in particular Rasis cause certain fixed attributes in a Horoscope.

Also, the effects of inter-relations between Planets in different positions are predictable and known.

The number of such inter-relations between Planets in different positions are extremely vast and only the main inter-relational effects have been recorded through the ages in the Science of Astrology.

All these predictive effects have, as their base, a mathematical computation based upon Planetary positions.

The Birth Chart or Horoscope of a person is read in two ways:

1. Static predictions : These are based upon the position of planets at birth only. They show the physical characteristics and mental constitution of a person mainly. In other words, they show the structure and function of the microcosm that has been born at that particular moment. ( For a detailed explanation of microcosm, Prakriti etc, please read the Chapter called Basic Concepts in Ayurveda on this website ). Hence the Horoscope can predicate the tendency of that person towards Health and Disease.

2. Progressive predictions : After the moment of birth is over, the Planets no longer remain in the same position in which they were at birth. As these Planets continue their predetermined motions, the path of life of the person born unfolds with Time. How this path unfolds and how it can be altered by our Free Will, God’s grace, Guru’s efforts, etc, is a separate issue altogether.

The Genetic Code

This code is made out of small building blocks of DNA arranged in sequential order repetitively. All our DNA is found inside the nuclei of our body’s cells.

This code determines all our physical and mental characteristics such as our height, skin colour, features, health and proneness to disease, our temperament, etc.

But how is this Genetic code formed from the two sets of DNA inherited from one’s Biological parents?

I NOW POSTULATE THAT THIS GENETIC CODE IS NOT FORMED MERELY BY A RANDOM SELECTION FROM INHERITED DNA, BUT THAT THE CELESTIAL COMPUTER WORKS WITH THE INHERITED DNA OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO GIVE HIM HIS GENETIC CODE.

In this way then, does the Celestial Computer work with the Destiny of all Humankind!
